Project 2025: Threatening American Rights and Freedoms
Project 2025, led by the Heritage Foundation and other conservative think tanks, is a “Presidential Transition Project” that aims to overhaul the federal government if a Republican wins the presidency in 2024. It poses significant threats to individual freedoms and civil rights and would lead to a more centralized and autocratic form of governance.
Dismantling Government
Project 2025 will:
Increase Presidential Power: Expand presidential control over the executive branch, place Justice Department under the President, and reduce check and balances
Reclassify Federal Workforce: Reclassify many federal employees to make them at-will workers, enabling easier replacement with administration loyalists
Overhaul Policies of: Justice Department, EPA, Health and Human Services, Department of Education, Homeland Security
Advance Ultra-Conservative Vision: Promote traditional family values, restrict LGBTQ+ rights, and align federal policies with conservative Christian principles
Freedoms at Stake
Reproductive Rights: Access to Abortion and Contraception
Environmental Protections: Climate, Electric
Civil Rights : LGBTQ+ Rights. Diversity and Inclusion.
Government Transparency and Accountability: Autonomy of Federal Employees
Immigration Policy Reforms
Protection from Gun Violence
Health Care: for those who need it most

Your Freedoms & Rights
How Will Project 2025
Affect Me?
- You'll question the quality of your air, water, food, drugs, car emmissions, and consumer products because the agencies issuing rules for these will be curbed or eliminated.
- Your children and grandchildren will attend schools regulated by parents, not the Department of Education.
- Your children and grandchildren will not learn about race and racial discrimination, and teachers and professors who bring these up in the classroom will be criminalized.
- Teachers will carry guns into classrooms.
- You will pay more for any imported goods because of a new universal 10% tariff.
- If you or a loved one is LGBTQ+, you will unlikely be able to marry because it is deemed an "unnatural" love, and you may be denied services or entry because business owners will be able to operate according to their religious beliefs.
- You will not be paid for overtime work.
- If you are food-insecure, your access to food assistance will be limited.
- Your prescription drug prices will be much more expensive due to rollbacks on what Medicare can negotiate.
- If you access health insurance through the ACA and/or have pre-existing conditions you will likely lose your health insurance.
- If you use an IUD, rely on plan B, or want to do IVF you will lose access to those options
- If you cannot afford early childcare and learning, you will not be able to enroll your child in the Head Start program because it will be eliminated.
- If you're looking for a job, you'll have a harder time due to cuts to the American Rescue Plan programs.
- If you or someone you know needs an abortion, you will not be able to access one.
- If you are one of the 33 million people enrolled in Medicare right now, you'll be pushed off the plan to options that are more expensive and provide fewer benefits.
- If you live in one of 25 states or D.C. that provide in-state tuition to undocumented workers, you'll have no access to student loans.
- If you are someone who was convicted in the insurrection, you will be pardoned.
- If you are a media outlet or journalist, your company could be shut down if you write or report anything that is critical of the administration or Trump.
