On The Brink: The Iran War Explained

March 31 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

Feeling overwhelmed by headlines about Iran? You’re not alone—and you’re not powerless.

On Tuesday, March 31 at 7pm ET, join BigTentUSA for a clear, accessible primer on the escalating conflict and what it means for everyday Americans. Congressman Jim Himes (CT-4) and national security expert Miles Taylor will break down the situation in plain terms, from how we got here to what could happen next. Most importantly, they’ll share concrete ways you can make your voice heard—whether that’s communicating with your representatives or pushing back on further U.S. involvement.

Get informed, get equipped, and get ready to take action.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Jim Himes was elected to Congress in 2008 and has since built a record delivering results for Connecticut families. He has served in key roles including Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee and as a senior member of the Financial Services Committee, focusing on economic growth, national security, and bipartisan solutions. He previously chaired the Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth and has a long history of local service, including with the Greenwich Housing Authority and other community organizations.

A product of New Jersey public schools, Himes holds degrees from Harvard and Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and spent 12 years at Goldman Sachs before leading a nonprofit focused on affordable housing. He and his wife Mary raised their two children in Cos Cob, where they have lived for nearly 30 years.

Miles Taylor is a national security expert who works in Washington, DC as Founder of DEFIANCE.org. Taylor previously served as chief of staff at the US Department of Homeland Security, where he published a bombshell “Anonymous” essay in The New York Times, blowing the whistle on presidential misconduct. He later published the #1 national bestseller A Warning, revealed himself to be the author, and launched a campaign of ex-officials to oppose Donald Trump’s reelection. He’s worked as an advisor in the George W. Bush administration, on Capitol Hill, as a CNN contributor, and is the cofounder of a DC-based charter school and multiple democracy-reform groups. Taylor is also the author of The New York Times best-selling book Blowback and the host of the iHeartRadio podcast “The Whistleblowers.” He received his MPhil in international relations from Oxford University as a Marshall Scholar and BA from Indiana University as a Harry S. Truman scholar.
